Not true at all that Rutherford is the backing vocals on Watcher of the Skies, maybe he’s singing but it’s Phil Collins you hear.

I’m surprised no one mentioned Dance on a Volcano as a top tier opening song. To me it’s such a defining and iconic moment during the Trick tour when the future of the band was uncertain after Peter’s departure. As soon as you hear those opening guitar chords you know they’re going to be okay.
As for Supper’s omission: I personally would have compromised by including only part of it: Apocalypse in 9/8 + New Jerusalem, like they did on the Trick DVD. That’s only 9 minutes, so a single song would have to be cut to include it. Got ‘It Out By Friday? 😉
Great discussion on a great album. Personal opinions mixed with objectivity and yet so respectful of alternate opinions (unlike other fan podcasts). Loved comparing live to studio versions. This was my gateway into Genesis in 1974. My buddy’s brother had the album and we would head bang to The Knife for a few months. Finally looked them up in our school library where I found I could loan out SEBTP at lunch. The rest if Genesis history for me.
