A very special Tabletop Genesis episode, where your erstwhile host, Mike Lord, reflects on his attendance at the 2019 Phil Collins and Steve Hackett shows. Plus, he takes questions from the teeming masses on Twitter! What could be better?

Hi Mike,
I enjoyed your recent ‘solo’ work on Phil & Steve’s recent concerts.
I already posted my thoughts on the SH’s show in Edinburgh, but realise that it appeared under the relevant heading – no matter!
However, I was surprised that your critique did not have as much ‘bite’ as I might have expected and that there was no credit / mention of Nad and his role?!
Moreover the ‘electric’ flute to me was / is tonally tangential and I would have been interested on your take.
I completely agree with you re the transition of total studio album run through on stage can be a bit of tough going and Yes sort of fell into this trap a few years ago.
Steve’s new album is a class effort, with some soaring, scintillating guitar melodies that merit much greater exposure.
A bit like George Harrison, Steve’s contribution to ‘polishing up the Genesis sound’ could be gaining wider appreciation, and as you suggested, and so he might do well to do a diminished Genesis revisited, Hackett augmented.
Finally, these tours must be exceedingly tiring and demanding on many fronts and so you must be correct to urge interested parties to catch’em while they can!
As aye
Barry
No update on the boys’ latest announcement? I don’t wish to brag, but I have my tickets for the Glasgow gig of the Last Domino tour, December 11.
Congrats! We have an episode coming out tomorrow (3/18, or 18/3 if you’re in Europe!) in which we talk all about the new tour! 🙂
