Genesis Live was the first Genesis album I ever listened to. My friend Bill had just recently introduced me to Yes when he saw this in the record store (1975?). He had heard of Genesis, but bought this one solely because of the cover. Thus continued our journey in to what became known as Progressive Rock.

I love “The Knife” because they sound so complete as a band at that point, and everyone gets a chance to shine.

The Knife is Genesis most overrated song. It sounds like Nelly the Elephant.
What did you and McCartney talk about? I m assuming he was at least aware of the Genesis stuff, but did you get the sense that he was a fan?
