Huh. didn’t know that. made me go and youtube it.. a good match.
Looks like Genesis members did a Lot of soundtrack songs for MV (Peter Gabriel the most). And didn’t Colins act in one? A Genesis fan in the production team!
Yes, Phil played “Phil the shrill” -a dirty, cocky drug dealer. It didn’t end well for “The Shrill”. 😉
The directors/producers must have been real Genesis fans. It also helped that PG, PC, & M&TM were all hot in the 80’s when Miami Vice on the air (or is it “In the Air” HA!) 🙂
Had to go with Hanging By A Thread. Would not have been out of place on Calling All Stations……you can tell that was heavily Mike influenced after listening to this album!
Honourable mentions go to A Call To Arms and Silent Running.
If I Get The Feeling gets any votes, you know you’ve got some closet Huey Lewis fans among your followers……lol!!!!
This record is a wonderful combination of everything: rock with prog, different lead vocals and keyboards with guitars. I love how dramatic it can be. Plus I saw them live at The Tower and they weee awesome
I went with Taken In. I’m not sure why! Maybe it was the video which I wish I could have lived. Imagining waking up to Mike and his band jamming in my living room… and then they stay and hang out for a day!!!!
Can’t go past the awesome keyboard intro and mood of Silent Running (love that guitar solos as well, but I believe that not Mike). Also shows that at least Mike knew how to end a song (unlike too many Genesis 80s-90s fade outs)
(And I’m another Aussie who loves the show)
I, surprisingly, landed on Taken In after my re-listen. Just an understated, beautify crafted song, atmospheric and moody with a perfectly crafted vocal performance to match … almost jazzy. And that lyric, “There’s one born every minute and you’re looking at him”? Great stuff. As a final track of an album it feels almost open ended, frankly, leaving you wanting more.
When pads ruled the earth.. these keyboard carpets don’t crawl!
#sorry
My vote must go to Silent Running. It is SO good. high drama, driving beat, looming action, this is an action movie in a 6 minute song!
Par Avion, ever since it was used in a episode of Miami Vice

A call to arms is my favorite because it was written by all the members of Genesis. I wish they would have used it on one of their albums.
You will be relieved to know that I look forward to listening to, and examining the entire tracks this time, not just the excerpts.

Sorry to be obvious but Silent Running is about the only good track on this mid 80s cheese fest.

Par Avion is the standout track for me. Has a very early Phil Collins feel to it, which I like.
Looking forward to the podcast guys. The Fugitive episode was great.
Lots of decent tracks on this album but Par Avion just shades it, a great ballad and it was given an airing on Miami Vice .
