    Nearly impossible to choose between Firth of Fifth, After the Ordeal and The Cinema Show.

      @gallier2: I agree precisely.

      By the way I don’t see the poll – has it been created yet?

        It’s the content of this post – do you not see it above?

          No I don’t see it, although I have been able to see your polls and vote on them in the past. All I see is “Cast your vote below, and the results will be revealed on an upcoming episode!” I see no poll.

    I love both Moonlit Knight and Firth of Fifth. Hard to choose. Head says F o F but heart says DwtMK, it was the first Genesis song I ever heard as Selling England was the first album I borrowed from a kid at school, it had just come out.

    I think the two best pieces of music on this album are: the first part of After the Ordeal, and the instrumental coda of Cinema Show. Since Cinema Show is longer, that got my vote – more to enjoy.

    I wonder if the wordplay will be discussed in the forthcoming podcast. Knights of the Green Shield stamp and shout … as well as all the shop references in Aisle of Plenty. I hope so, totally Genesis English wit at its best.

        Most of the references are a bit arcane now but if you need any help in deciphering them by all means ask.

      Really? As Vincent Vega said, “That’s a bold statement…” 😉

    Was it true that the sound quality of the vinyl original was heavily compromised because of the length of the album (just like Duke)? Will it be discussed during this episode?

    At first I thought it’s a really tough choice between Cinema Show and Firth of Fifth.

    FoF has by far the greatest guitar performance of Steve’s career (in fact IMO one of the greatest guitar solos of all time by anyone, ever). But then I realized if it weren’t for that, I probably wouldn’t rate the song too highly.

    So Cinema Show for me…

    I have only in the past few years had time to explore the Peter Gabriel era Genesis recordings, and Selling England By The Pound has become my favorite of all of the albums, catching the band at a peak in performing and writing skills.

    Gosh how do you decide between Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, Firth of Fith and Cinema Show?
