I wish I can remember which song I voted for. I’m pretty sure I’m on the wrong side of history with Tom (and 2 other folks) voting for “All In A Mouse’s Night” as “11th Earl” would have been too obvious….

Thanks, Earl! I think you’re on the RIGHT side of history if you voted for AIAMN! πŸ˜‰ I do agree that Blood is probably the best song on the album, but I voted for Mouse because it’s the one that really gets me, one I could listen to over and over.

      Hope you’re well! – Tom

Glad to see Eleventh Earl of Mar get some love! There are two moments that this song really shined for me:
    1. 1978 Live at Uptown Theater Chicago
    2. 2007 Surround Remixes

I literally had to pick my jaw up off the ground after hearing the live 1978 recording and wondered why they didn’t play it live more often?! I knew based on the Gabriel era surround mixes that Eleventh Earl remix was going to be an improvement and it did not disappoint! That’s one song I love to “share” with my neighbors from my surround speakers! πŸ˜‰

Thanks, Greg! The song definitely kicked ass live – I assume you’ve seen this video? Love Phil’s bell-bottoms!

Hey guys! I’ve been catching up on your podcasts and really enjoying them. They remind of the conversations we used to have amongst ourselves in Grand Parade (Chicago based Genesis tribute band) as we were organizing set lists and working out arrangements.

I missed my chance to vote on W&W which is my personal favorite Genesis album, but my favorite song made #1 so no big loss. Surprising that “…in That Quiet Earth” ranked so low, but I guess most folks prefer one of the live versions.

Thanks, Roey – I’ve seen your gigs advertised but haven’t had the chance to check you guys out, living in the NY tri-state area. Perhaps some of our friends in Da Midwest Gang have seen you perform. πŸ™‚

Yes, it seemed odd that ITQE ranked so low, but you’re right, maybe people mostly associate that with the live version, Mama Tour, etc.

Yes, Da Midwest Gang are all good friends and they have seen us (and my other bands Sonus Umbra and Fanfare) many times over the years. In fact, Grand Parade headlined the first couple of Ethelfests, which were organized by Uncle Norm and company. Sadly, those remain the two final shows ever played by Grand Parade. πŸ™

I thought your name looked familiar! Loved both Sonus and Fanfare at Rosfest this year (members here Stacy and I have been attending since 2007, I believe Simon has since 2009). And Brittany’s “Great Gig in the Sky” will be remembered for a while!

Ha, doesn’t look like it! I did mention that the one aspect of it I like was when they did it live, and in the final verse, Tony adds this extra keyboard flourish, which is quite lovely (on here, it comes in around 4:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFKArHv7JmI). Maybe if the song had started right there and gone till the end, it would have gotten more love. πŸ˜‰

Just listening to the section about One For The Vine’s dance section lol….I remember back in my youth watching Ice Dancing either at the Olympics or something similar when a skater (I think) from the USSR used this very section as her music to skate to….rather shocked me at the time πŸ™‚

And that young skater’s name was … Vladimir Putin. πŸ˜‰
At a Rangers game this season, the organist played a bit of Firth of Fifth!

Lol good old Vlad…what a card. I’ve been to a Rangers game….that would have been awesome.
Looking forward to the next episode. I almost have to stop myself from joining in with the chat. Great fun

Unquiet slumbers for the sleepers … in that quiet earth.

I can sometimes take Afterglow as well, but only with these 2

A concession to Steve, who was mad about many of his offerings being rejected outright, including Please Don’t Touch. These tracks were originally to be credited as a group composition, it was decided to spit them as a SH/M.R. track and a group effort.

EXCELLENT song, one of Genesis’ last great guitar songs, Phil does a great job on drums too.
