I adore ATTW3 and Invisible Touch. The former is dark and moody and fits the music perfectly. IT’s cover refers to the title song but it’s also slightly abstract. Plus it too was textured inviting you to touch it.

One thing you never mentioned about the Trick of the Tale and Wind & Wuthering album covers was, and this may have been just an UK thing or you may never have seen the originals, but both my covers of these albums purchased in the 70s, were embossed with a ripply bubble effect. They were not smooth which added to their effect. You dont get that with cds or tapes
True – perhaps it was a UK thing. The album copy of Trick that we were looking at during the recording did have some next texture all through out – but obviously you couldn’t see us rubbing it affectionately during the podcast. 😉
I agree with the top three without doubt. I’m surprised that none of the podcast presenters chose them. I’m disappointed that The Lamb got so well rated as it was such a departure from Genesis’ Englishness.
The Lamb is not only the best Genesis album but also the best album cover. Despite the American setting and cultural references, it is still very much a British band making a British prog rock record. I’m not sure why you’d be disappointed by somebody not hating it simply because it’s less overtly British than the prior, less timeless albums.
Love you guys and the podcast to death, but as an art student and album cover enthusiast, this one hurt to listen to… lol.
